About the Role


POSITION: Licensed Clinical Psychologist (Exempt, Full Time, Regular) // Fall River Mills, CA or Burney, CA

REPORTS TO: Behavioral Health Director

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Serving as a Primary Care Mental Health Integration (PCMHI) Psychologist. Provide support and assistance to the Primary Care Clinicians, Behavioral Health Clinicians and our respective patients. As a member of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team, s/he triages, diagnoses, and manages patients within behavioral health. Provides brief interventions and supports medical and psychosocial interventions by primary care team members. Facilitates patient skill training through psycho-and patient-education strategies to develop specific behavioral change plans for patients. Supervise psychological assistants accruing Supervised Professional Experience (SPE).

QUALIFICATIONS:
Possess a Doctorate Degree in Psychology from an American Psychological Accredited (APA) college or university and be licensed in ‘good standing’ with the State of California as a Psychologist. Must possess current valid California or Oregon driver’s license and auto liability insurance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Initial screening and intake (mental health assessment) to determine appropriate level of mental health care. Accurately record patient mental health history, progress notes, and referrals in medical record according to protocol.
2. Conduct suicide risk assessments, as needed and coordinate appropriate level of care determinations consistent with local and State regulations, policies, procedures and law.
3. Consult with primary health care clinicians regarding the treatment of mental disorders and psychosocial problems.
4. Assist patients in managing a chronic medical condition or an invasive procedure.
5. Assist patients unable to work in developing a return-to-work plan
6. Assist in the detection of “at risk” patients and prevent further psychological or physical deterioration.
7. Consult with primary care team as necessary and refer cases to specialty Clinicians as appropriate.
8. Work with primary care team to effectively and efficiently treat, manage, and counsel patients with chronic emotional and/or health problems.
9. Assist the Primary Care Clinicians to develop and treat chronic pain and related psychosocial issues.
10. Assist patients in prevention of relapse in conditions that tend to become chronic.
11. Evaluate patient care plans with primary care team.
12. Provide educational information and strategies to staff and patients for mental health management, coping, and self care.
13. Improve clinical outcomes with high prevalence of mental disorders.
14. Respond to patient or co-worker complaints and work toward a positive resolution of any program dispute.
15. Identify problems related to patient services and make recommendations for improvement.
16. Participate in evaluation of peers and support staff.
17. Develop a structure for group educational class sessions emphasizing patient education and self-management.
18. Lead educational group classes.
19. Participate in patient case review process.
20. Provide psychological testing when necessary.
21. Attend and participate in meetings and Quality Improvement activities as required.
22. Report any inability to meet the aforementioned duties and responsibilities to the Director of Behavioral Health for disposition.
23. Other duties, as assigned by the Director of Behavioral Health.

Starting Salary: $95,000+

1. Foster an environment that promotes trust and cooperation among all staff of MVHC.
2. Enforce clinic policies and procedures to ensure that the principles of MVHC are implemented.
3. Maintain confidentiality of all patient and employee information.
4. Inform your supervisor of matters of general interest and problem areas as such are determined or discovered.
5. Attend MVHC staff and organization meetings as requested.
