About the Role

POSITION: PHYSICIAN- OB/GYN

REPORTS TO: Chief Medical Officer

SUPERVISES: RNs, LVNs, and MAs

JOB SUMMARY: The OB/GYN physician diagnoses and treats various medical conditions that impact women’s health. The physician provides direct patient care by performing the appropriate physical exam, ordering appropriate diagnostic tests, and implementing therapeutic and/or surgical treatment measures. Provides outpatient care for Mountain Valleys Health Centers’ patients. Provides direction and support to all clinical staff at site location. Works as an integral part of the Provider staff by participating in medical, quality assurance and other staff meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited medical college with a current license to practice medicine in the State of California. Current CPR, ACLS and DEA certification. Ability to work well with others in a professional manner in a team-oriented environment with leadership qualities and supporting attitude toward organization. Must maintain confidentiality relating to MVHC personnel, patients, and information that could result in proprietary damage to MVHC.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide care and treatment to women seeking obstetrical care and women’s health including specialty care.
• Diagnose and treat patients by following evidenced based guidelines and uses standards of care.
• Perform Annual Wellness Visits which includes breast, cervical and colorectal cancer screenings.
• Conduct mood and emotional well-being assessments during visits, in particular postpartum care.
• Collaborate and consult with other medical and non-medical personnel.
• Effectively monitor patient’s progress throughout treatment plan and care and provide continuous improvement on patient outcomes.
• Educate patients on importance of treatment plans and communicate side effects and risks involved with any treatments or interventions.
• Educate patients on disease prevention and reproductive health.
• Demonstrate effective and appropriate documentation within the EHR as well as patient education.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service and communication with patients.
• Able to multitask and manage assigned projects and tasks as directed.
• All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
